DVConnect supports people across Queensland – including regional and remote communities
When it comes to safety, support and connection, no one should miss out because of where they live. DVConnect supports people across Queensland to access help when they need it most, whether they live in a major city, a regional town, or hundreds of kilometres away from their nearest neighbours.
A Statewide Service, Available 24/7
Our services are available anywhere in Queensland, with our crisis response services available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Through strong partnerships and a coordinated network of services across Queensland, we work to make sure every caller receives practical, immediate and compassionate support, wherever they are located.
Helping People in Rural and Remote Communities in Queensland
For someone experiencing domestic and family violence in a remote or rural community, reaching out for help can feel especially daunting. There may be fewer visible services nearby. Transport options may be limited. Privacy concerns can feel heightened in small towns where everyone knows each other. We understand these challenges, and we are here to help navigate them.
When someone calls DVConnect, our experienced team listens without judgment and works alongside them to plan the next steps.
If travel is required to reach safety, we organise it. That may mean arranging transport by car, bus, train, or even a flight to provide a pathway to safety tonight.
Supporting Men to Improve Safety
Our support also extends to men across Queensland who want to take positive steps toward safer behaviour. A man living in a regional or remote area may not have access to a local program or face-to-face service. Through our helplines, we provide confidential conversations, information and referrals to help men understand their behaviour, develop safer strategies and connect with services available to them. Geography should never be a barrier to change.
Tailored Help for Every Caller
At DVConnect, we know that every situation is unique. People in rural and remote communities have strength, resilience and close connections, but they can also face distinct pressures and isolation. That’s why we tailor our responses to the individual circumstances of each caller, taking into account their location, cultural needs, family situation and available local supports.
If you or someone you know needs help, DVConnect is here. Distance does not define access to safety. Across Queensland, from city to outback, one phone call can open the door to support, options and hope.
