DVConnect announce Murray Benton as Deputy Chair
DVConnect is pleased to announce the appointment of Murray Benton as Deputy Chair of its Board, recognising his significant contributions to the organisation since joining the Board as Director in 2024.
A proud Aboriginal Barkindji Ngiuampaa man from Central West New South Wales, Murray brings extensive leadership, governance and sector experience to our organisation’s mission of supporting Queenslanders impacted by domestic, family and sexual violence.
Murray currently serves as Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Protection Peak (QATSICPP). He has built a distinguished career across child protection, youth justice, domestic and family violence, community services and systems reform.
DVConnect Chair Carly Jacobitz AHPRA GAICD said Murray’s appointment reflects his exceptional professional experience and dedication to improving outcomes for victim-survivors.
Murray’s governance and advisory experience includes serving on the Child Death Review Board with the Queensland Family and Child Commission, to which he was reappointed by the Attorney-General in July 2026. Through this work, he contributed to the landmark In Plain Sight report, examining systemic responses to child sexual abuse in Queensland.
He has also served as an Expert Advisor to Queensland’s Domestic and Family Violence Death Review Advisory Board and the Queensland Police Service Domestic and Family Violence Advisory Group, contributing to efforts to strengthen system responses and improve safety outcomes for vulnerable Queenslanders.
Murray said he was honoured to take on the role of Deputy Chair.
As Deputy Chair, he will support the Board in guiding DVConnect’s strategic direction, strengthening governance and helping ensure the organisation continues to deliver high-quality, accessible and responsive services for people experiencing violence across Queensland.
