Online Security Measures
If you are in an abusive relationship and your abuser
has access to your computer, it is important that you take
precautionary steps to hide your internet activities.

Microsoft Internet Explorer
To Delete Address Bar and Page Visited History
- On the Tools menu in Internet Explorer, click Internet Options.
- Click the General tab.
- Under History, click Clear History.
To Delete Temporary Internet Files (cookies, images and offline pages)
- On the Tools menu in Internet Explorer, click Internet Options.
- Click the General tab.
- Under Temporary Internet Files, click Delete Files.
- Tick the box named Delete all offline content (see diagram -->).
- Click OK.
- Under Temporary Internet Files, click Delete Cookies.
- When prompted to delete cookies, click OK (see diagram -->).

Netscape Navigator
To Delete History and Address bar entries
- On the Edit menu, click Preferences.
- Double click the Navigator heading on the left to expand its contents.
- Click the History heading.
- Click both the Clear History and Clear Location Bar buttons (see diagram -->).
- Click OK.
To Delete Cookies
- On the Edit menu, click Preferences.
- Double click the Privacy & Security heading on the left to expand its contents.
- Click the Cookies heading.
- Click the Manage Stored Cookies button.
- Click the Remove All Cookies button (see diagram -->).
- Click Close.
- Click OK.
To Delete Locally stored files
- On the Edit menu, click Preferences.
- Double click the Advanced heading on the left to expand its contents.
- Click the Cache heading.
- Click the Clear Cache button (see diagram -->).
- Click OK

Mozilla Fire Fox
To Delete Page Histories and Locally stored files
- On the Tools menu, click Options.
- Click the Privacy icon on the left.
- Click the Clear buttons next to History, Cookies and Cache (see diagram -->).
- If you have downloaded files, saved passwords or completed online forms, also click the Clear buttons corresponding.
- Click OK.

Opera Browser
To Delete History and Address bar entries
- On the Tools menu, click Preferences.
- Click the History and cache heading on the left
- Click the Clear buttons next to the headings Typed in addresses and Visited addresses (see diagram -->)
- Click the Empty Now button next to the Disk cache heading
- Click OK
To Delete Cookies
- On the Tools menu, click Preferences.
- Click the Privacy heading on the left
- Click the Manage Cookies button.
- Click the Delete button until there are no more entires in the list (see diagram -->;).
- Click the Closebutton.
- Click OK
